Integrity and honesty are qualities we all claim to have. We all say to act on them daily, or at least as much as possible. Yet when you learn more about the true meaning of both integrity and honesty, results are disappointing.
When you are being dishonest, you’re lying. When you are withholding information, your lying. But did you know that when you choose to lie, you’re actually also stealing. You’re a thief. A common thief. By lying you are stealing the other person’s right to the truth. You’re unwillingly taking away their right to have the correct information, that they might need to make objective decisions. Even when it’s a right we all have. A right that is often taken lightly.
That’s not integrity but deception. A deliberate choice to deny someone their human right. Think about that the next time you’re thinking about lying.
